It was more than a pleasure to shoot on "holy ground" - at Hockenheim race track in Germany - with all those beauties around: vintage Jaguars, Ferraris, Alfa Romeos, Porsches... just the sound of their engines makes you tremble and long to get behind a steering wheel immediately. The 2 min. film as well as the 45sec. cinema version and the 30sec. TV-spot was produced by R-Force Film Munich.

Bis ans Limit tells the story of 100 years of car racing - from its humble beginnings right to the latest developments. It was my intention to focus not so much on technology but also to portray the people behind the cars: their dedication, their bravery - their craziness.This quest for speed, to be faster than the competitor, this wish to succeed and risk everything for victory, even the own life... While technology pushes the limits ever further, the men behind the wheels haven't changed at all. To be the fastest, to cross the winning line first will always mean to go to the limits of man and machine. It was a truly fascinating experience to shoot the vintage Auto-Union 16 cylinder racing car on a race track in Sicily - what a beautiful monster, what a sound! The type D was built in 1937 and reached with its more than 500 hp over 330 km/h top speed... The 7 min. feature was shot in Sicily, Italy. It was produced by Neue Sentimental Film Frankfurt for the car museum of the VW Autostadt in Wolfsburg that is situated right next to the main VW car manufacturing plant.
